Vienna Centre for Advanced Studies
ViCAS is a new interdisciplinary Centre for Advanced Studies at the University of Vienna
We will soon announce the inaugural cohort of the Vienna Centre for Advanced Studies. This exceptional group of senior and junior fellows - joining us from Europe, North America, South America, Africa, Asia, and Australia - will bring their ideas and experience to the University of Vienna, sparking new connections between disciplines and departments. Their expertise spans a remarkable range of fields, including neurobiology, genomics, mathematics, high-performance computing, governance and ethics, oriental studies, complexity science, and philology. We are excited to welcome our fellows in the Fall.
Look forward to our next call for 2027-2028 ViCAS fellowship applications, launching in June.
Goals of the Centre
ViCAS offers space for deep, undisturbed research in one of Europe’s most stimulating cities. A year spent with fellows from diverse disciplines can be a transformative experience—both intellectually and personally.
The Centre aims to:
- establish a dynamic space for international and interdisciplinary academic exchange, designed to inspire groundbreaking research approaches and innovative ideas;
- provide a stimulating intellectual environment for academics at all career stages, with specific opportunities for collaboration and mentorship for early-career researchers;
- promote the exchange of knowledge and ideas beyond academia.
