The University of Vienna is committed to making its digital recruiting tools as accessible as possible. Accessibility is a matter of great importance to us. We continuously work on improvements and take feedback very seriously.

In order to prepare the most suitable support for you – particularly for an in-person appointment on site – we kindly ask you to inform us of your requirements when making contact. This enables us to make any necessary arrangements (e.g. technical aids or organisational adjustments) in good time.
Accessibility Status
The recruiting tools are partially compliant with the requirements of conformance level AAof the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 and the European Standard EN 301549. The assessment was carried out by means of an external accessibility audit (WIEN-FLUSS, released 4 May 2026).
Known Limitations
The following limitations were identified in particular during the external accessibility audit:
- Some interactive elements are not detectable or operable by screen readers.
- Certain selection fields (dropdowns) are not accessible.
- Keyboard operation and focus management are not fully ensured throughout.
- Headings and structural markup are incorrect or incomplete in several places.
- Labels and accessible names are missing for various interactive elements.
- Dynamic content, dialogs and status messages are not reliably communicated to assistive technologies.
- Colour contrasts and the operation of forms (including error messages) are not adequate in all cases.
Third-Party Content
Third-party content that is not under the control of the University of Vienna, such as application documents uploaded by applicants, is exempt from Directive (EU) 2016/2102. No statement can be made regarding the compliance of such third-party content with accessibility requirements.

The offers and services of the recruiting tools are continuously improved. Usability and accessibility are a major concern for us. If you notice barriers that hinder you in using the tools – including those not described in this statement – please inform us by email.

Enforcement Procedure
If you are not satisfied with the response received via the contact option above, you may lodge a complaint with the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG). The FFG accepts complaints electronically via the contact form.
Contact form of the complaints office
These complaints are examined by the FFG to determine whether they relate to violations of the provisions of the Web Accessibility Act, in particular deficiencies in compliance with accessibility requirements, by the federal government or an entity attributable to it. This statement was prepared on the basis of the Web Accessibility Act (WZG) and is based on the external audit of 4 May 2026.
